This Privacy Policy describes how SP7 ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Smart Grammar – AI Writing Assistant application ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Smart Grammar is designed to work with minimal data collection, and several features (translation, OCR, voice recognition) operate entirely on your device without sending data to external servers.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

Text Content for Processing

When you use the grammar check or paraphrase features, the text you enter is transmitted to our AI API provider over an encrypted HTTPS connection for processing. This text is used solely to return grammar corrections or paraphrased content to you. We do not store, log, or retain your text on our servers after the response is delivered.

Feedback Form

If you choose to send feedback through the app, you provide:

  • Your name (optional)
  • Your email address (optional)
  • A message describing your feedback or issue

This information is submitted to us via HTTPS and is used solely to respond to your feedback, improve the App, and provide support. We do not share this information with third parties.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information (Feedback Only)

When you submit feedback, we automatically collect basic device information to help with debugging:

  • Device model and manufacturer
  • Android OS version
  • App version number

This information is not collected at any other time and is not linked to any personal identity.

1.3 Information Processed Locally (Never Leaves Your Device)

The following data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

  • Camera images / Gallery photos — Processed locally by Google ML Kit for OCR text extraction. Images are never uploaded to external servers.
  • Microphone audio / Voice recordings — Processed locally by your device's speech recognition engine. Audio is never uploaded or stored.
  • Translation input and output — All translation is performed on-device using Google ML Kit. Text is not sent to any server for translation.
  • Saved library items — Stored only in your device's local storage (SharedPreferences) and never uploaded.
  • Usage statistics — Stored only locally on your device and never uploaded.
  • Theme preference — Stored only locally on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide core features: Transmitting your text to the AI API is necessary to deliver grammar checking and paraphrasing results.
  • To respond to feedback: Using your name and email (if provided) to reply to your support requests.
  • To improve the App: Using anonymous feedback and device info to identify bugs and improve performance.
  • To comply with legal obligations: If required by law, we may retain or disclose certain information.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

3.1 AI API Provider

Text submitted for grammar checking or paraphrasing is sent to our AI API provider. This is an operational third party that processes your text solely to generate the AI response. We have selected providers committed to data security. Your text is not used for training AI models by default. Please refer to the AI provider's own privacy policy for further details.

3.2 Google ML Kit

The App uses Google ML Kit for on-device OCR, translation, and language identification. These features process data locally. Google may collect anonymized usage telemetry from the ML Kit SDK. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details: https://policies.google.com/privacy

3.3 No Sale of Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties under any circumstances.

3.4 Legal Disclosure

We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SP7, our users, or the public.

3.5 Business Transfer

If SP7 is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

4. Data Retention

  • Grammar/paraphrase text: Not retained on our servers. The AI API processes and returns results without persistent storage on our end.
  • Feedback submissions: Retained until we have addressed your request, then deleted, or as required by law.
  • Local app data (library, stats, preferences): Stored on your device indefinitely until you uninstall the App or clear the App's data from Android Settings.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • All data transmitted between the App and external APIs is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
  • Local data is stored in Android's protected app storage, inaccessible to other apps
  • We do not store passwords or financial information

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

7. Permissions Used by the App

The App requests the following Android permissions:

  • INTERNET — Required to communicate with the AI grammar API and to load the Contact Us page. Used only when you actively request grammar checking or paraphrasing.
  • RECORD_AUDIO — Required for the voice input feature. Audio is processed locally by Android's speech recognition and is never uploaded to our servers.
  • CAMERA — Required to take photos for OCR text extraction. Photos are processed on-device and never uploaded.
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES — Required to select photos from your gallery for OCR. Images are processed on-device and never uploaded.

You can revoke any permission at any time via your Android device Settings. Revoking a permission will disable the corresponding feature.

8. Your Rights and Choices

8.1 Access and Deletion

Since we do not maintain user accounts and store minimal data, most of your data is under your direct control:

  • Library items and statistics: Delete directly within the App, or clear the App's data via Android Settings → Apps → Smart Grammar → Clear Data.
  • Feedback data: Contact us to request deletion of feedback you have submitted.

8.2 Opt-Out

You can opt out of the grammar check API by not using the grammar check and paraphrase features. All other features (translation, OCR, voice input, TTS, library, stats) function without sending data to external servers.

8.3 Do Not Track

The App does not track you across third-party apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers or behavioral tracking.

9. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., in the Contact Us or Settings screens). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

10. International Data Transfers

If you use the grammar check or paraphrase features, your text is sent to our AI API, which may be hosted outside your country. By using these features, you consent to the transfer of your text to servers in other jurisdictions, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. For major changes, we may also provide a notice within the App. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
